For the print element I am going to create a billboard that is usually seen around development sites so it connects with my LaVille city. To start off I started looked at main elements on billboards in Birmingham, most of them were very simply designed as they were next to roads therefore drivers needed to be able to understand what the billboard was about quickly. They only contain a few key elements so people to have time to look at everything and don't get bored. Most of them contained images with only enough type to get the point across as you don't want drivers to have to read loads as they drive past.

My main problem is how to have the background as i don't want it too over powering that it distracts from the point of the billboards. Most billboards that only have a simple point have just plain white backgrounds which I think works really well, white is bright enough to grab peoples attention but plain enough that they won't pay more attention to that instead of the information on the billboard.

This covers the whole site which works well as it is a reasonable sized site, they use an image of what the building will look like which works well for their development plan but would not work as will on my own as I would have to make a perfect image of what LaVille would look like from various angles. 

They use the simplicity of just images on this one which works really well as it is a larger site. However I don't think the point of their development is very clear as their is no text to explain what they are developing. 

This one has the same problem as they have various images of different scenarios so it is unclear what is being developed. 

This one probably work well as even though it is not a development site it is obvious to tell what they are advertising as the white captures your attention and you can understand it even if you only just see the image or the text so it works well all together.

After taking some inspiration from these I started making my own designs.

This was before I started thinking of the white background, I first started think of purple as I still wanted to incorporate Cadbury's purple in LaVille. I decided to make it long in length as I wanted drivers to be able to follow along with it as they are driving. So they will see "LaVille" then see photos of people havign fun then finish with "Where everyday is a you day" so it has a personal touch. However this design doesn't seem very eye caching so I tried a deeper purple.

I then tried it with the white background and found it a massive improvement. The white is more eye catching then colours and it also has a clean look about it, I used purple text to keep the Cadbury's colour involved. I'm going to add just a couple of images of people having fun, I want an image of people laughing in pajamas to show the pajama day as well as images of people all dressed up ready for a night out. I'm only using a couple of images as I don't want to many things to look at.
